Rodmersham Open 2023: Another Spectacular tournament!

Squash lovers, gather round as we reminisce about the spectacle that was Rodmersham Open 2023. This year’s tournament was no less than a sports bonanza, with a dynamic mix of players competing from across the country. A special mention to our enthusiastic squash clan from Hythe, who came all the way on a squash-loving bus. Now that’s dedication!

A huge round of applause for Joe Magor, the man behind the scenes who turned this event into an unforgettable experience. His meticulous organisation and management skills shone through every moment, making the tournament an absolute pleasure for everyone involved.

We must also extend our gratitude to our sponsors, Sears Communications and Sittibuilders. Their generous contributions made the tournament not just possible, but also a grand success. And we can’t forget Kelly and the bar staff, the incredible team that kept everyone’s bellies full and spirits high throughout the event. Your fantastic efforts kept the energy buzzing!

And now, onto our magnificent players, who took to the court with zeal, displaying great spirit and skill. Our home players truly outdid themselves this year, seizing a whopping 4 out of 6 titles. The talent displayed was awe-inspiring, with many a memorable performance and thrilling result.

The champions who walked away with the titles are:

A Grade: Champion – Martin Clark (Rodmersham), Runner-Up – Tom Woods (Rodmersham)

B Grade: Champion – Adam Ward (Canterbury), Runner-Up – Luan Woods (Rodmersham)

C Grade: Champion – Raif Fontanelli (Rodmersham), Runner-Up – Dean Nicholson (Bexley). Plate Winner – James Robjant (Park Langley), Plate Runner-Up – Jonathan Warren (Colets)

D Grade: Champion – Lois Woods (Rodmersham), Runner-Up – Neil Fagg (Hythe). Plate Winner – Christo Van Zyl (Rodmersham), Plate Runner-Up – Adam Faber (Harpenden)

E Grade: Champion – Brad Debona (Rodmersham), Runner-Up – Owen Stanford (Rodmersham). Plate Winner – Richard Penny (Rodmersham), Plate Runner-Up – Georgia Davies (Biddenden)

F Grade: Champion – Ava Hodson (Hythe), Runner-Up – Fletcher Hollamby (Hythe)

Shining brightest amongst the stars was our Player of the Tournament – Raif Fontanelli from Rodmersham. Congratulations on your exceptional play, Raif!
