Tough match between Red and Yellow.
The Red and Yellow teams faced off in a challenging MATS game tonight. In the first match, Jim Williams from the Red team battled against the young and energetic Raif Fontanelli. Despite Jim’s eccentric shots, Raif managed to wear him down and win 53-40, giving Yellow a 3-0 lead.
The second match saw a rare singles game with Henry Kitney from Red taking on James Costello from Yellow. Henry’s shot prowess and ability to kill the ball on occasion gave him an advantage, despite James diving around the court. The match ended in a 3-3 tie, leaving Yellow still ahead with a 4-3 lead.
The third match between Lois and Peter was a tense affair, with neither player taking a big lead throughout the game. With only 30 seconds left and a 2-point lead, Lois made a crucial mistake by serving out and missing the return of serve, resulting in the first draw of the season. If Lois had learnt to time waste like her dad, the match could have been a victory for Red, but it ended 4-4.
In the fourth match, Red’s captain Kieron faced off against tree surgeon Rob from Yellow, who used his strong running and wall-climbing skills to secure a 56-44 victory, giving Yellow a 7-4 lead.
The fifth match was a tough battle between Christo from Red and Ian from Yellow. Both players made great retrievals, and the rallies went on for a long time. Ian emerged victorious with a 55-49 win, extending Yellow’s lead to 10-4.
Matthew from Red took on Laura from Yellow in the sixth match. Matthew’s tenacity and ferocious shots made the difference, and Laura’s costly errors gave him a home victory of 60-46. Red closed the gap to 7-10.
In the seventh match, Reece from Red faced Sam from Yellow. Sam cruised to victory with a big win, running down all of Reece’s shots and hitting the ball accurately to bring the win for Yellow, extending their lead to 13-7.
In the eighth match, Alex from Red faced Jack from Yellow in a battle of the fittest. Both players gave it their all, but Jack emerged victorious with a score of 64-54, giving Yellow a 16-7 lead.
In the final match, Caitlin from Red faced Jamie from Yellow. Jamie’s top-quality serving put Caitlin under pressure from the start, and she had to hunt and chase every shot. Despite both players being red-faced and tired at the end of the match, Jamie took the victory with a score of 65-48, giving Yellow the win with a final score of 19-7
