Match Report – 16th March 2023
Thrilling Thursday evening at Rodmersham Squash Club, as Blue and Orange team battle it out.
The Blue Team went head to head against the Orange Team in a highly anticipated MATS night. Despite some great individual performances from both sides, it was the Orange Team who emerged victorious, winning 18-9.
The first game featured George and Jordan in a neck-and-neck battle. Both players were evenly matched, with neither being able to establish a significant lead. However, it was George who held his nerve and managed to edge out Jordan with a close score of 50-49, giving the Orange Team an early advantage.
The second game saw Team Captain Martina and Oscar take to the court. It was a closely contested match, but Martina showed exceptional control and finesse with her shots, winning the game with a score of 54-47 and further extending the Orange Team’s lead.
The third game was a highlight of the match, with Guy and Damien putting on a show of skill and endurance. Guy’s precision and technique proved to be too much for Damien, as he secured a win with a score of 59-45, putting the Orange Team in a dominant position. In the fourth game, Linda dominated the court with her speed and accuracy, defeating Scarlett with an impressive score of 72-34. Another win for the Orange team meant that the Blues were 12-0 down at this stage of the night.
The fifth game was a closely fought contest between Amo and Team Captain Ethan, with both players displaying great agility and determination. In the end, it was Amo who emerged victorious with a score of 47-44, giving the Orange Team yet another important win.
In the sixth game, Turtle of the Orange Team took on Michelle of the Blue Team. Turtle started off strong, being up by 10 points at the halfway point, but Michelle dug in deep to make a comeback in the later stages of the game. It was Michelle who emerged as the winner with a score of 62-51, giving the Blue Team their long awaited first victory of the evening. The seventh game featured Colin of the Orange Team taking on Lois of the Blue Team. Lois played with great precision and skill, dominating the game from start to finish. Colin tried to keep up with her pace, but ultimately lost with a score of 44-57, securing a second victory for the Blue Team.
The eighth game saw Greg of the Orange Team take on Christian of the Blue Team. Greg put on a masterclass performance, dominating Christian with his tricky drop shots and expert court movement. In the end, Greg won convincingly with a score of 61-42. The final game of the night saw Rosie and Ashley go head-to-head. Despite a spirited effort by Rosie, Ashley emerged victorious with a score of 52-39, bringing the match to a close.
Overall, it was a fantastic match with some great performances from both teams. The Orange Team should be commended for their resilience and determination, and the Blue Team should take heart from their valiant effort. It was a great night of squash at the Rodmersham Squash Club, with plenty of thrilling moments to keep everyone entertained.
