The second week into the MATs season and the first game for both the green and blue teams.
The first two games saw the green team take their first two victories with Steve and Casey both putting on a solid performance and setting the bar high for the rest of the green team. However, the next match saw a fighting battle between both Connor and Oscar, determined for the win, but Oscar managed to take the first win for the blue team with just a 3-point difference at full time.
Meanwhile, Captain Ethan brought his A-game for the blues by digging deep and not backing down which allowed the blues to take another strong win, despite Harlee trying to get into Ethan’s head. Therefore, after 4 matches, both the blue and green team were tied with 6 points, which meant that it was anyone’s game to win.
With a tie, the next games included Scarlett and Kieran and Lois and Andrea. Fortunately for the blue team, both Lois and Scarlett played an exceptional game taking the blue team into the lead by 6 points. This caused the pressure to rise for the green team, as they needed to bag two more wins to be in with a chance of winning their home game.
However, as the pressure rose the blues continued to excel, as Ashley took yet another win for the blues despite the exceptional rallies and fight put up by Captain Hannah.
Next, we saw Harlee raring to go with his fighting talk, ready to take on Christian from the blues. Harlee’s confidence and ego got the better of him, whereas Christian kept his cool which allowed him to bag the victory by 7 points. Unfortunately, this meant that the blues had already taken the win overall with an impressive 18 points, but this did not stop Finn putting up a strong fight for the green team against Damien. The last game secured one more win for the green team which left the overall scores at 18-9, which was an impressive win for the blue team.
Overall, the night finished on an absolute high for both teams, with drinks flowing and a tasty chicken curry cooked by the lovely Karen. This was an enjoyable start to the season, and all players put their all into their matches with the encouragement and support from their teams and club regulars. However, the green team is coming back stronger than ever ready to take the victory home in a couple of weeks’ time.
